Château de Chantilly and Senlis – One Day Trip

Departure for Chantilly at 8 o’clock in the morning, visit the castle of Chantilly in the morning. Then departure to the town of Senlis after lunch. Return to Paris at 6pm and arrive in Paris around 7pm.

Château de Chantilly and Domaine de Chantilly:
Domaine de Chantilly covers 7,800 hectares in one of the largest forests around Paris. It is composed of the castle and its museum Condé, the park and its gardens, the large stables and their horse museum.

The castle houses the Condé Museum, which consists of princely apartments, an exceptional collection of paintings – more than 800 masterpieces by artists such as Botticelli, Raphael, Poussin, Delacroix – and a library and museum. The archives are holding more than 19,000 books. The park offers a grandiose panorama of the art of the western garden with the French garden designed by Le Nôtre in the seventeenth century, the Anglo-Chinese garden in the eighteenth century – which houses the hamlet that served as a model for that of Marie Antoinette at the Petit Trianon of Versailles – and the English garden in the nineteenth century. Finally, the Grandes Ecuries are a true masterpiece of 18th century architecture. They house the Horse Museum which presents more than 200 objects and works of art dedicated to the equine world. The Grandes Ecuries offer magical equestrian shows throughout the year.

In the afternoon, we will go to the city of Senlis:
Royal city in the Middle Ages, Senlis sees its history back to the Gallo-Roman era. Its streets preserve many traces of its medieval past and the activity of bishops builders. Once dormant, they are animated especially on weekends, tourists in love with this old city. It is good to stroll through the streets lined with beautiful homes and sit on a terrace in this city of character.
